Honey Bee (apis mellifera)

A macro shot of a honey bee (Apis mellifera) resting on a flower, possibly a type of Gaillardia. Managed to get a few decent close-ups one hot August. It didn’t require too much patience. They are apparently common throughout the UK from March to October.

This one is likely to be a female because of its elbowed antennae and the fact it is collecting pollen. Correct me if I am wrong.

Got anything to say? Go ahead and leave a comment!
